Get the Information You Need to Protect Your Livelihood and Save Your Hard Earned Money

What would happen if you woke up tomorrow, and your data was gone? What would you do? Would you panic? Would your vital information be lost forever? Wouldn’t you want to ensure that you would never have to worry about that happening in the first place? We are here to uncover potentially costly threats you are not even aware are there.

Computer Virus

Which is why we have a critical notice we want to share with you, so please take a few minutes to read it completely and learn how to avoid destructive ransomware, like Cryptolocker, the data-stealing virus that can easily cause over $10,000 in damages to your business.

Over the last several months we have noticed an increase in the number of sophisticated threats to not only our organization but also to several customers.  These threats are very real and could severely impact your business. They are avoidable, but not without a keen eye for suspicious emails.

Cryptolocker & Variants

The first threat is ransomware called Cryptolocker. This has been out in the wild for several years, but a new variant has been working its way around the internet. Typically, you’ll receive an email that convinces you to open an attachment.  Do not open unknown emails or attachments!

This is an especially harmful virus that encrypts files on the infected workstation and local servers. End user education about this virus is critically important.

As we work to tune our layers of protection to prevent users from seeing these messages, the bad guys are working hard to dodge those same systems.   Recovery from this virus could require restoring from backup or in some cases paying the ransom to unlock your data.  You may lose work and have downtime if an infection were to occur.

Accounting Phishing Scams

The second threat that seems to have made a comeback is a phishing scam that appears to be centered around the use of wire transfers. The email looks like it comes from a trusted person, typically an executive at your organization and it request a wire transfer to be made or confirmed and re-sent.

Many times these emails create a sense of urgency. Please inform your users to phone verify any and all wire transfer requests or other money related requests that arrive via email.
